Every end of the year MARR celebrate her beloved children annual get-together, who are destitute, orphans, and handicap also who attend school. One of our Great Donner Mr. Muis who had contact with MANNAR ASSOCIATION FOR RELIEF & REHABILITATION since 2000 , make it a point to visit from Netherland every November to see his foster children and bring lots of presents to his children .
He is one of the great contributors toward MARR Education Programme. With his assistance MARR give a helping hand around 75 number of students who are from vulnerable family mainly for their education.
MARR call these students every end of the term and review their progress and grant cash donation for their education. They use this assistance for their extra tuition, buy school stationaries, to buy push cycle and also for their practical work.
Similarly MARR help around 30 students in their university carrier, for this Colombo Candle Aid Organization help seven students and the rest with MARR fund.
Further every beginning of the year 500 destitute children are selected from the rural backward schools with the help of Dept of Education and MARR provide School stationaries .
On last 15th of November ,2015 .MARR had a small function with their 75 MARR loving children at YMCA Hall Mannar and in the presence of the Donner Mr. Muis, Every children were given Christmas gifts varying from Rs, 1500/= to 2,000 also their Cash donation for the third term.
Children were hugged by the Foster Father, He was so amused to see the growth of this children & their educational progress. Many performed cultural items and entertained the guest, at the end all the children and their parents were felicitated with delicious lunch.
Though it was heavily raining in Mannar due to sudden depression in the Bay of Bengal ,70% of the students and parents were turned up for the annual event.
Rev Fr Xavier Crooz who is the President of MARR was not in a position to attend to this function due to his sickness, Rev Fr Alban Rajasingam ,and MARR Vice President Mr. Ramakrishnen presided the ceremony. MARR Staff under the Admin Officer Mr. Joseph, did all arrangements to satisfy the Children. Vote of thanks was given by Sinclair Peter. at 2 pm the function come to an end as most of the participants came from fa raway places.
